Paul wrote the website using PHP, including custom XML-style parsing for blog, news, and photo entries, as well as the webmail form. I'm using PHP4 at the moment, but everything should be compatible with PHP5. The site was designed to be cross-browser compatible (Firefox, Safari, Internet Explorer 7 and above) with W3C standards-compliant HTML 4.01 (strict mode) and CSS layout.

If you're using Internet Explorer 6, I'm sorry--that particular browser requires cheap hacks that break international web standards, and I just don't have time for that. You should Update Windows to install Internet Explorer 7 along with the security updates you may have missed since November 2006.

Paul's Development Machine

Paul was very lucky to get some generous gifts for his Ph.D. graduation, as well as some dissertation prize money. He used this to build a very nice dream machine (Fibroblast):
